Free Insulin Pump donated by Dr Anjana Ranjit Mohan and Dr Ranjit to a child with type 1 diabetes through DIRECT

Dr Anjana Ranjit Mohan, Managing Director, Dr Mohans Diabetes Specialities Centres donated a pump to honour the memory of her Mother, the Co-Founder and Guide of Dr Mohan’s Group of Institutions, Dr Rema Mohan. Sharing herewith her thoughts.. on the occasion. The leader, the healer, the philanthropist, THE MOTHER…

Dr Anjana Ranjit Mohan :
A girl of 10….I first saw her at the Satya Sai free mobile camp in Kundrathur about 2 years ago when Dr Susheela Sambamurthy brought her to the diabetes OP saying ‘she has high sugars.. I turned around to see an angry, agitated child who had DKA, was resuscitated and then sent to the free camp as they could not afford insulin….. the very distraught mother was illiterate and the child was adamant that she would NOT take insulin!!! Indumathi who was the exact same age as my son, stirred in my heart what only a mother can feel…..hours of counselling….. education….. the child slowly started accepting insulin from one to multiple daily doses….. she struggled through puberty and numerous other issues …today on my mother’s birthday we gifted her an insulin pump… the trials of a child with type 1 diabetes are real. more so wen they are economically disadvantaged. .But out of these are born fighters and heroes…. heroes like Indumathi!!!!
